Useful Links

There are over 450 independent LETS schemes throughout Britain involving over 40,000 people. These work similarly to CamLETS, namely through alternative currencies to the pound and allow individuals, groups and small businesses to exchange goods and services within their local community without the need for money. More information and listings of all local schemes from LETSLINK UK.

Other useful national sources include:

  • The New Economics Foundation, a radical think-tank bringing together the ideas, people, resources and influence to challenge business-as-usual

  • GreenChoices, a portal site for sustainable living, with a special section on ethical money.

Closer to home, the following organisations in the Cambridge area provide useful information:

  • Only Connect, the 'other' LETS scheme in Cambridge. It works on a system of vouchers rather than credit notes (more like a local cash economy). The website is a bit out of date, but the scheme is still flourishing.

  • Cambridge Online City, an information portal for organisations and groups in the area.

  • Rainbow Network Cambridge hosted by CamLETS member Ralph Nimmann, provides links to a range of different groups and activities in the Cambridge area.

  • 209 Radio, Cambridge's Internet-based Community Radio features "Ralph's Positive Hour" on Sundays. Sunday 17th April 2005 carries an interview with Camlets members.
